A very nice morning for a walk but very quiet around the site.

From the hide: 20+ Mallard, 18 Shelduck (plus ducklings), 5 Gadwall, 5 Shoveler, 4 Teal, 41 Avocet, 5 Lapwing (plus 1 Chick), 2 Lt. Egret, 1 Grey Heron, Cetti's Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, linnet, and a few Swallows DC/MR

 

Thurs 6th June 24

A very brief appearance by a Lt Ringed Plover on Leon's marsh, two Marsh Harriers interacting over the arable and Avocet numbers up to 44 was about it for this morning.

From the hide: 5 Canada Geese, 20+ Mallard, 18 Shelduck (plus ducklings), 4 Teal, 2 Shoveler, 3 Cormorant, 44 Avocet, 5 Lapwing (plus 1 chick), 2 Oystercatcher, 1 LRP, 1 Yellow Wag, 1 Pied Wag, 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Kestrel, Reed Bunting, Reed & Sedge Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Linnet and a few Swallows. 09:15 Pretty much as you were over the haven this morning highlights being a tussle between a Buzzard and the regular female Marsh Harrier, the Barn Owl flew to roost in box and a juv G C Grebe asleep close in by the sluice.

 

Tues 4th June 24

From the hide: 25 Mallard, 14+ Shelduck, 12 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Teal, 26 Avocet, 5 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 3 Cormorant, 1 Lt. Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Marsh Harrier, Cetti's Warbler, Reed Warbler, reed Bunting, Linnet, Whitethroat, Swallow and lots of Starlings.

 

Mon 3rd June 24

The only bird of note this morning was a Lt Ringed Plover on the scrape when I arrived that disappeared behind the island and was not seen again.

From the hide: 20+ Mallard, 12 Shelduck (+ ducklings), 12 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 33 Avocet (incl. a colour ringed bird), 4 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 LRP, 1 Redshank, 3 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Cuckoo, 1 Marsh Harrier, a few Swallows, Cetti's Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, Linnet & Whitethroat.

 

 

Sun 2nd June 24

Not a bad morning but still just the residents for Richard on his walk around the site first thing.

From the hide: 4 Canada Geese (+ 5 very large goslings), 2 Greylag, 20+ Mallard, 14 Shelduck (+ ducklings), 12 Gadwall, 11 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Shoveler, 23 Avocet, 4 Lapwing (+ 1 Chick FFY), 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Common Sandpiper, 4 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Lt. Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Cuckoo, a few Swift & Swallows, 1 Yellow Wagtail. Plus 1 Chinese Water Deer. RJ/MR.

08:20 Going south,1 Fulmar, 10 Gannets so far since 7.30am.

16:25  7.30 to 12.30 Sea watch shelter, joined by RJ & SC some of the time.1 Common Scoter, 4 Sandwich Tern (2 me), Kittiwake 1 RJ  1 Poss SE), 7 Fulmar (SE) 2 might have doubled back. 36 Gannets (SE) plus about 10 missed. Very enjoyable.
