17:06 Walk from Frinton to The Haven and back via the farm this morning included: 2 Egyptian Goose, 1 Grey Wag, 14 Red-throated Diver (2 north first thing, 12 on the sea at the end of the morning, most distant), 5 Fieldfare (flock north over farm), 2 Sparrowhawk (displaying over sewage works), 8 Shelduck, 1 Green Woodpecker, 7 Reed Bunting (singing), 9 Mipit (1 singing - first song of the year), 5 Linnet, 33 Curlew (south), 6 Cetti’s Warbler (singing), 1 Corn Bunting (none singing, single bird still near manure heap by bridleway), 50+ Starling, 1 Marsh Harrier, 18 Avocet, 40+ Shoveler, 2 Hare, 1 Chinese Muntjac, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Snipe, 2 Oystercatcher, 6 Buzzard (all drifting high to the north, a single and groups of two and three). 16 species in song.
