Thurs 16th Sept 21


A few more birds around the bushes this morning but still nothing special, a Cetti's Warbler was singing in the Dell Sallows which also held some nice Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap and the Goldfinch flock, a single Willow Warbler was in the wood south of the Dell and a Chiffchaff in the bushes at the top of the carpark. 7 Pied Wagtail and 4 Rooks were on the Greensward. MR

On the scrape: 1 Greylag, 4 Cormorant, c20 Teal, 80+ Lapwing, 12 BlkWits, 6 Snipe, 5 Avocet, 3+ Ruff, 1 Little Stint, 1 Water Rail (heard only), 1 Grey Heron, 1 Sparrowhawk, plus c40 House Martin and a few Swallows were hawking over the hide pond for a short while. PRD/RJ/MR et al.

A single Wheatear was on the front near the pillbox RJ/MR

11:05 Scrape this a.m. Little Stint, 4 Ruff, 10 Snipe, 16 Blackwits, 5 Avocets, 2 Med Gulls. Four Turnstones on outfall rocks. Regular pulses of Meadow Pipits & Swallows between 07.00 & 09.30. Three-fig counts of both species + a few House Martins & a Grey Wag.
