Thurs 26th Nov 20

I joined Simon at the shelter just as Matt was heading off to work (don't you just love this retirement) but it was very quiet, just 15 Com. Scoter (s), 4 Cormorant (n), 4 Brent (s), 3 Red T Diver (2n 1s) & 2 Gt. C Grebe (sitting on the sea). While checking out the gull flock on the sluice rocks 2 Purple Sandpipers were on the sluice and a line of 96 Cormorants headed north offshore. SC/MR.

A walk to the second pillbox added 3 Purple Sands on the rocks before French point, 1 Rock Pipit (Ringed but not read), 3 Stonechat, a few Mippits, 4 Curlew (out on the marsh), 9 Brent heading north and a further 20 flying around the marsh looking to land but for some reason didn't.

From the hide: 7 Mute Swans, 7 Shelduck, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Kestrel SP/JH/MR

Reports from today:

Peter Newton

10:29 Merlin chasing small passerine over feeding station.
