Mon 17th Apr 23

A much nicer start to the morning but still a chill wind off the sea first thing, I started over the road where a Cetti's Warbler showed really well several times, 2 Lt Grebe were on the brook and c20 Linnets plus Reed Buntings, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Mippits were all noted, 2 Swallows around the humpback bridge. Along the approach road were 2+ Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap (m&f), 1 Willow Warbler (DC), very quiet in the Dell.

The drake Garganey was elusive for much of the morning, but still showed well on a few occasions, otherwise things were much the same 16 Avocet, 7 Gadwall, Shelduck and Shoveler but no Med Gulls while we were in the hide.

The Sedge Warbler was still singing and showing well in the reedbed just north of the wooden hide

Reports from today:

Simon Cox

08:44 Drake Garganey on flood to right of hide
