Sat 13th April 19

When I arrived on site this morning Pete Loud, Ian & Max were sea-watching from the shelter and within a few minutes a Whimbrel headed north close offshore (a year tick for most of us). Prior to my arrival things had been a bit slow with 1 R B Merganser (N) and 11 Sand Martins in off.
On route to the hide a Lesser Whitethroat was singing in the bushes behind the sluice.

From the hide :- 2 Canada Geese, 31 Shelduck, c50 Teal, 4 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall,  12 BlkWit's, 8 Avocet, 5 Redshank, 5 Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Jack Snipe, 1 Ruff, 1 Whimbrel, 1 Curlew, 1 Cormorant, 1 Sparrowhawk,  1 Cetti's Warbler, 3 Reed Bunting, 2 Linnets, 5 Swallows.
On the return the Lesser Whitethroat was located on the brambles between the wind-pump and the sluice. Not sure if this was the same bird heard by PL/IM/MM  earlier in the sewage works hedge or a second bird. MR.
