Thurs 12th Aug 21
A cloudy start to the morning but warm when the sun broke through, bushes quiet today. On the scrape things were much the same apart from 3 Greylags until 10:00 when 15 BlkWits dropped in to join the 2 that have been around all week, (this group all adults contained 14 sum. plumage & 1 winter plumage), after a while everything was flushed and the BlkWits took flight and were lost to view, a short time later 8 BlkWits wandered into view from the back R/H corner non of which matched the previous birds?
A Marsh Harrier spotted by Pete Davis over the back of the marsh around 11:30 had bright Red wing tags, I picked it up over the scrape from the sluice but unfortunately neither of us were able to see any marks on the tags. Pete also had a Wheatear along the front.
Around the scrape were 3 Greylag, 5 Shelduck, c30 Teal, 25 Blk. T. Godwits, 18 Avocet, 6 Lapwing, 3 Common Sands, 2 Wood Sands, 1 Yellow Wag (juv), 3 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Marsh Harrier.
