Fri 13th March 20

Dave Cummings started the day with a walk around the approach road wood which turned up 2 Chiffchaff along with the normal Tits and Finches etc. I joined him on a walk to the 3rd pillbox which added just a pair of Stonechat and a few Mippits and Skylark, 1 Buzzard and a Green wing tagged Marsh Harrier (probably L6 but no positive ID). From the hide : 1 Black Swan, 2 hybrid Geese (Greylag/Canada ?), Wigeon and Teal, 31 Shoveler, 18 Shelduck, 20 Avocet, 12 Lapwing, 7 Snipe, 5 BlkWits, 3 Oystercatcher, 2 Redshank, 1 Water Rail, 1 Kestrel. Plus a Water Vole in front of the hide (see Haven Wildlife page). DW/DC/JH/MR

On the way back to the carpark a Green Woodpecker flew from the ringing compound and a good mixture of birds were on the feeders.

An afternoon visit to the hide by Dave Cummings added 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Stonechat and 1 Barn Owl to the morning list.
