Sun 15th March 20

Pete Loud started the day with another fly-by Fulmar heading north, but the rest of his sea-watch and Ian, Matt & Max's look around the site added nothing of note, I joined them at the sluice and as we headed for the hide Max called our attention to a duck flying overhead as a Mandarin, sure enough a drake Mandarin (NFY) circled round, had a look at the scrape and was then lost to view behind the sewage works. Not a bad bird for the sites No.100 of the year !!.
From the hide :  1 Black Swan, 4 Canada Geese, c150 Wigeon, c120 Teal, 43 Shoveler, 14 Shelduck, 2 Gadwall (drakes), 14 Avocet (incl. GB/GY), 10+ Lapwing, 10 Curlew, 6 Snipe, 3 BlkWit's, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Lt. Egret, 1 Kestrel + Meadow Pipit, Reed Bunting, Skylark & Pied Wagtail. PL/IM/ML/MM/MR.

On the return to the carpark 2 Chiffchaff were heard in the Mounds/Ringing Compound area and 3 Adders were also seen (see Haven Wildlife page).
