The bushes were given a good bashing today but apart from c5 Chiffchaffs very little else was noted. PRD/DC/MR.
Moving through the site 2 Turnstone were on the sluice, a pair of Stonechat on the mounds and another pair near the wooden hide. Meadow Pipit and Reed Bunting were seen in the hand while chatting to Simon & Pat who had nets up in the reedbed (see Ringing page) DC/MR.
From the hide:
c100 Teal, 5 Shelduck, 5 Cormorant, 15 Lapwing, 4 Curlew, 4 Snipe, 1 BlkWit, 1 Redshank, 23 Blk. H Gulls, 9 Herring Gulls, 2 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel. DC/MR/DW/BH.
An afternoon visit failed to find anything worthwhile just a couple more Chiffchaff, lots of Long Tailed, Blue & Great Tits, 1 Green Woodpecker and c60 Swallows sitting on the wires and feeding over the car park near the Dipping Pond. MR.
