Tues 5th Apr 22
Two R T Divers heading north this morning and a single Turnstone on the sluice rocks on the way to the hide in the rain.
Very noisy on the scrape, looks like the Blk H Gulls may be hoping to nest on the island again and are squabbling for the best spots as are the Avocet, the pair of Med Gulls joined in for a while before flying out. Most of the Shoveler are paired up and a Cormorant in breeding plumage looked superb.
From the hide: 4 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, c30 Wigeon, c30 Teal, 18 Shoveler, 9 Mallard, 6 Shelduck, 2 Gadwall, 26 Lapwing, 6 Curlew, 5 Redshank, 2 Snipe, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 BlkWit, 60 Blk H Gulls, 2 Med Gull, 2 Herring Gull, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Kestrel, 1 Cetti's Warbler.
4 Chiffchaff were singing around the site today and the pair of Sparrowhawk were displaying over the car park and spending a lot of time in the bushes, hopefully nesting again this year.
